Beyond Borders Wednesday- Donna Karan

Zen Style

Town

This is the wonderfully zen New York City apartment of design icon Donna Karan. Ms. Karan has created an empire with her chic, well tailored and wearable designs. Her Upper West Side apartment, with sweeping views over Central Park is spacious and tranquil. It's a retreat from her hectic days in the fashion industry.

Architect Bonetti Kozerski worked closely with Ms. Karan to create a gorgeous, peaceful retreat. The black and white color palette adds a spa like feel to the apartment. It's wonderful to see that her simple, less is more approach carries into all facets of her life.

Wow. I love it. Even though I've never been much of a fan of her designs. But this is a space I could easily live in.

Maia, I am pleased you appreciate the beauty in her spaces even though her design style is not to your liking. I've received 7 emails already with similar sentiments, but I am pleased that you commented and shared it with us.

uau! love the space. love it! so full of detail. another project my design philosophy fits in: "Absolute simplicity is, indeed, the best way of being distinguished". this space reflects her design, indeed.
the walls are so well "dressed". and her personal objects reflect her eclectic side, if you know what i mean. very nice!

Both homes are unique yet it looks like someone with similar likes lives there. The city flat is to die for and the country house is perfect! I wouldn't dare put my feet on the furniture in the city flat but in the summer house it's a must. The rooms are meant for lounging. Divine spaces! Fab post darling!
