Luvata Cottage Pre-tty Fab-ulous

Hi everyone, I'm back! Hope you've all had a great weekend and are feeling nice and relaxed.

-----------

This lake side cottage was built for the Pori Vacation Homes Fair by Luvata Pori oy. The cottage was designed by architect Martin Wolff and the interiors by Helena Karihtala. This one story 950 sq ft cottage is located on the coastal town of Reposaari about 20 miles NW of the popular town of Pori, Finland.

The Luvata company's aim was to build a home that is environmentally friendly, attractive and using copper wherever possible. The cottage's façade is made with patinated copper cladding, wood and glass. For the roof, prefabricated copper sheets were used with integrated solar panels, making the cottage very energy efficient. The rainwater drains are also made of copper.

Although the cottage is small it does have a spacious feel to it, with lots of windows flanking the living areas. I love the look of the kitchen cabinets painted to look like metal, the concrete center island and the stunning copper back-splash.

The custom-made soapstone fireplace is surrounded by blue patinated copper.

I have cottages on the brain these days. Hope you like this lovely place and all the others coming your way this week.

Enjoy!

I love how the bedroom and study windows frame that view of the water - so close it looks like a houseboat from that angle! And that fireplace with the wood storage inside - that is one of my dreams...how I love sitting in front of a roaring fire.

Thank you for sharing such a gorgeous home - hope you had a wonderful break!

I went to see those in Pori, my old hometown. Lovely - but I prefer old-fashioned cottages myself. :-)

Hi Charlie,

welcome back.

Love the choices of materials, great mix!

My dream has always been a cottage next to a private jetty and a nice embankment.

All the best,
Ingela

Welcome back, Charlie! Boy, are you back in a big way. This is another amazing house. It has so many beautiful features. I love the ceiling and all the natural light and oh my goodness, that kitchen! A concrete island? How fantastic. But I think the copper backsplash may be the most gorgeous thing of all! It's just stunning.

Hi Christy! Those vertical window do seem to give a houseboat feel to the place. The fireplace is really great feature.

Josie, I am so pleased you love it. I love this one as well. The use copper is so unusual, cannot wait to see what it looks like after a few months of rain and snow.

Vitania, The copper does seem to warm it up. Can you imagine copper cladding on the outside?! I've been promised photos so we might get to see the after effects.

Annie, I remember you mentioned that you had attended the fair last year when I posted on the houseboat. The old fashioned cottages are charming but it is so much fun to peak into the modern. ones as well.

Ingela, I also dream of one by the sea with huge windows facing the water. Don't get me wrong a lake cabin is wonderful as well, but the feel is so different. Ah, who am I kidding I take any cabin view or no view:-)

Hi Alek, Your quest for the perfect cottage inspired these posts. There are so many beautiful places out there, I really cannot wait to see which one becomes your home away from home. I knew you'd love that kitchen! I must say, the use of copper is quite spectacular.
