Light Changes Everything....

"I seek to create physical spaces where I can communicate both physically and spiritually with the viewer. In my work of glass I use its fundamental qualities, such as fragility and the ability to absorb and reflect light, as inspiration for my symbolic language." -Hans-Christian Berg

How do people see? What are the limits of vision? How are images really formed?

Visual Vortex - Oily Colors Relief 1
2007
Finnish Artist Hans-Christian Berg, examines the issues that deal with perception. His artwork is not just about optical illusions it is also about the way in which we view the world and the objects around us. The interaction of light and space and the different materials it touches, light changes everything, even lifeless objects change.

  7. I love his work. I was in NYC during a Hans-Christian Berg auction and was surprised to see that he is so important in America. He is not talked about in Finland so much as in NYC. I like his work to. He seems very smart.

  8. Charlie, I adore this artist. I thought the colors were paint, until I read of his biography and realised that it is all illusions, mirrors, glass, plastic etc. Have you seen his fiber-optic installations? The illusions are outstanding. I just found out that he will be in New York! Very exciting.
